David & The Dorks suonarono al Matrix di San Francisco il 15, 16 & 17 dicembre 1970. Trattavasi di David Crosby e tre membri dei Greatful Dead (tra i quali Jerry Garcia). Il gruppo si autonominò, alternativamente, David & The Dorks, David & The Ding-A-Lings and Jerry & The Jets, ma nella sua prima apparizione al Matrix venne presentato come Jerry Garcia & Friends. Poco tempo dopo sarebbe nato un fantastico album, un "solo" di Crosby ma al quale collaborarono molti dei protagonisti dell'Estate Californiana: Jerry Garcia, Graham Nash, Joni Mitchell, Bill Kreutzman, Mike Shrieve, Mickey Heart, Phil Lesh, Jorma Kaukonen, Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Ethan Crosby, Laura Allen, Jack Casady, David Freiberg e Neil Young. Il titolo: If I Could Only Remember My Name.
