"Comes Then Goes" è dedicato a Chris Cornell, purtroppo andatosene via da noi il 18 maggio 2017, a 53 anni (ennesima vittima della depressione). Cornell, cantante e chitarrista nato a Seattle, oltre a essere membro di Soundgarden e Audioslave realizzò alcuni lavori solisti (6-7 album). Le sue canzoni trovarono posto in un paio di colonne sonore.

Il bassista dei Pearl Jam, Jeff Ament, ha dichiarato:
"Ho sempre ritenuto Chris il più grande autore di canzoni di Seattle. Jimi Hendrix sapeva suonare la chitarra in maniera formidabile, ma Chris possedeva quel talento compositivo che tutti noi speriamo di raggiungere nel corso della nostra carriera. Era capace di attorcigliare una melodia intorno a qualche strano tempo musicale e di inserire parti bizzarre, facendo tuttavia risultare il tutto ben digeribile. Ed era uno che sapeva forgiare le parole. Leggi i suoi testi. Ovviamente in essi lui rilavorava i propri momenti di dolore e di depressione e così via. Era per questo, penso, che il pubblico, me incluso, era tanto ricettivo quando lui cantava. Inoltre possedeva quella voce... Non tutti gli autori di canzoni posseggono una voce così multiforme. Lui poteva sfruttare le sue capacità vocali, interpretando diversi personaggi... Mi ritengo fortunato di aver potuto lavorare con lui, di aver potuto trascorrere del tempo con Chris Cornell e, sì, di essere stato testimone della sua bravura."
